In BBC Dragon's Den, which Dragon was the first woman to invest on the show?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh was the first woman to invest as a Dragon on the BBC programme.

Elnaugh was one of the original investors when the British version launched in 2005. Her appearance made her the programme’s first female Dragon to commit money to a pitch, before later female investors joined the panel.

She was known for founding Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts. The business became a prominent part of her public profile, although its later financial difficulties are also frequently discussed in accounts of her career.

Elnaugh left the regular panel after the first two series. Deborah Meaden then joined in series three, so the two names are easy to confuse when questions refer broadly to female Dragons rather than to the first one.
