In astrology, a person's birth chart based on the date and time of birth is called a natal chart.
A natal chart, also called a birth chart, is a diagram of the sky calculated for a particular moment and location—usually the exact time and place of a person's birth. Astrologers plot the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, zodiac signs, and astrological houses, then interpret the pattern as a description of personality, tendencies, or life themes.
The birth time matters because Earth’s rotation changes the eastern horizon and the house positions throughout the day. The location matters for the same reason: observers in different places see different horizons and sky orientations at the same moment. When the precise time is unknown, astrologers may produce a less detailed chart.
A natal chart is not exactly the same as a horoscope. “Horoscope” can mean a broader astrological forecast, while a natal chart is specifically the calculated map for birth. Astrology is a cultural and divinatory tradition, not a scientifically validated method of predicting personality or events.
