In Assassin's Creed, which English king does Altaïr meet during the Third Crusade?

In Assassin's Creed, Altaïr meets Richard the Lionheart during the Third Crusade.

Richard I of England, commonly called Richard the Lionheart, ruled from 1189 until 1199 and led the Third Crusade from 1189 to 1192. In the game, Altaïr encounters him during the campaign in the Holy Land and speaks with him before carrying out an assassination mission involving Robert de Sablé.

The historical Richard fought Saladin, the Ayyubid sultan, over control of Jerusalem and surrounding territories. Assassin's Creed uses real places and historical figures but places them inside a fictional secret conflict between Assassins and Templars.

Richard the Lionheart should not be confused with King John, his younger brother, who also appears in the game's wider historical background. The game's main events are set in 1191, while Richard's reign continued until his death in 1199.
