Abstergo Industries operates the Animus and hunts the Assassin Brotherhood in Assassin's Creed.

Abstergo is a powerful modern corporation secretly controlled by the Templars. Its public businesses provide resources, technology, and influence, while its hidden agenda seeks to locate ancient artifacts and impose order on humanity.

In the first game, Abstergo employee Warren Vidic supervises Desmond Miles's Animus sessions. The company uses Desmond's genetic memories to investigate Altaïr and identify information useful to the Templar cause.

Abstergo is the modern counterpart to the historical Templar Order, although the corporation is not simply identical to every historical Templar institution shown in the series. The company also develops later Animus technologies, including products presented to the public as entertainment.
