A raven helps Eivor scout the world in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Eivor's raven is named Synin and can be summoned to survey locations, identify points of interest, and assist with reconnaissance. The bird continues a long-running Assassin's Creed tradition in which protagonists use an animal companion to observe the environment from above.
Valhalla changes that tradition from the eagle viewpoint used in Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey. Synin is a raven, reflecting the game's Viking setting and Norse imagery. The raven is useful for exploration, but its scouting abilities differ from the eagle system in earlier games.
The protagonist can be selected as male or female Eivor, while the animal companion remains Synin in either case. Wolves and lynxes appear in the franchise as wildlife or companions in other contexts, but they are not the scouting bird in Valhalla.
