In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Synin is the raven companion of the Viking protagonist Eivor.
Synin can scout the environment from above, helping Eivor identify locations, enemies, and points of interest. The raven replaces the eagle companions used in several earlier games, reflecting Valhalla's Norse setting and its emphasis on Viking exploration. The name is associated with the Old Norse word for sight or vision.
Synin is easily confused with Senu, the eagle companion of Bayek in Assassin's Creed Origins, or Ikaros, the eagle associated with Kassandra or Alexios in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Those companions perform similar reconnaissance functions, but they belong to different protagonists and historical settings. Valhalla's story follows Eivor's migration from Norway to England during the Viking expansion of the ninth century.
