Paris is the primary setting of Assassin’s Creed Unity.
The game takes place during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789 and continuing through the revolutionary upheaval. Players control Arno Dorian, a French Assassin who becomes involved in a personal investigation and the wider conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order.
Unity presents a large, detailed version of Paris, including landmarks and districts shaped by the period’s political and social unrest. The city’s crowds, public events, and urban architecture support the game’s emphasis on stealth, parkour, and cooperative missions. The Notre-Dame cathedral is among the recognizable locations represented in the game.
Paris can be confused with London, the main setting of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which takes place during the Victorian era. Madrid and Vienna are not Unity’s primary city settings. The word “Unity” refers to the 2014 game’s title, while its historical identity comes from revolutionary Paris and Arno’s relationship with Élise de la Serre.
