Paris is the city transformed by the French Revolution in Assassin’s Creed Unity.
The game is set in Paris beginning in 1789, when the French Revolution erupts and reshapes the city’s political and social life. Players follow Arno Dorian through locations including the Bastille, Notre-Dame, the Louvre, and the Tuileries. Crowds, public executions, political unrest, and shifting factions are central features of the setting.
Versailles can cause confusion because Arno spends part of the opening there, but the main game world is Paris. Versailles was a separate royal residence outside the capital and is not the principal open-world setting.
Unity was released in 2014 and was designed around dense urban exploration and cooperative missions. Its depiction combines real landmarks and historical personalities with fictional characters and events. The game’s story begins before the Revolution and continues through several major stages of the upheaval.
