In Assassin's Creed Unity, Paris hosts Arno Dorian's main story.
Unity follows Arno Dorian, a French Assassin active during the French Revolution. Most of the game takes place in Paris, where Arno investigates the murder of his adoptive father, joins the Assassin Brotherhood, and becomes involved in the conflict between Assassins and Templars.
The game recreates recognizable Parisian locations, including Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Bastille area, and the Palace of Versailles. Crowds and densely packed streets are central to its depiction of revolutionary Paris and to the game's stealth systems.
Versailles appears at important points, especially in the opening and tutorial sections, but it is not the main city of the campaign. Lyon and Marseille are French cities but are not Unity's principal setting. The historical backdrop is the French Revolution, which began in 1789.
