The Assassin protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Unity is Arno Dorian. He is a French Assassin active during the French Revolution, and the game follows his transformation from a young man marked by personal loss into a member of the Brotherhood.
Arno’s story is set mainly in Paris beginning in 1789. He investigates the death of his adoptive father, becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood, and navigates the political violence and social upheaval surrounding the Revolution. The city’s landmarks, including Notre-Dame, are central to the game’s environment.
Arno should not be confused with Jacob Frye, who stars in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate during the Industrial Revolution in London. Unity also includes Élise de la Serre, a Templar and Arno’s childhood companion, whose relationship drives much of the plot. The French Revolution setting is a defining feature of Unity’s historical campaign.
