In Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Jacob Frye is the game's first playable character. He and his twin sister Evie are the central protagonists, and players can switch between them after the opening portion of the story.
Jacob is portrayed as an impulsive, direct fighter who wants to confront Templar control in London. Evie is more methodical and specializes in stealth, investigation, and searching for Pieces of Eden. Their different abilities encourage different approaches, although both participate in the broader campaign.
Syndicate is set in London during the Industrial Revolution, beginning in 1868. Henry Green, an Assassin ally, helps the twins establish themselves in the city. Lydia Frye is Jacob and Evie's descendant and appears in a separate World War I sequence, so she is not the first playable sibling in the main campaign.
