Whitechapel is the first major open-world district visited in Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
The game begins in Victorian London in 1868, where Jacob and Evie Frye arrive to challenge the Templar presence. Whitechapel becomes the first substantial district in which the twins recruit allies, complete activities, and build influence for the Rooks, their street gang.
London is divided into several districts, each with its own activities and level of Templar control. After Whitechapel, the Frye twins expand their campaign into places such as the City of London, Southwark, Lambeth, and Westminster. This district-based structure gives the game a clear progression through the capital.
Whitechapel is not the same as the entire city map or the final area of the story. It is also distinct from The Strand, which is another London district represented in the game. The opening district helps establish the industrial, crowded atmosphere of Syndicate's setting.
