In Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Jacob and Evie Frye first liberate Whitechapel.
Whitechapel is the opening borough in the game's version of Victorian London. Jacob and Evie arrive there in 1868 and begin dismantling the influence of the Blighters, a criminal gang controlled by the Templar Crawford Starrick.
The borough introduces Syndicate's territory-liberation structure. Players complete activities such as rescuing children, defeating gang leaders, freeing prisoners, and disrupting criminal operations before confronting the area's gang stronghold.
Whitechapel is a real district in London's East End and had a large working-class population during the Victorian period. It is distinct from Westminster, the political center west of the city, and Southwark, which appears as another playable borough later in the game.
