Jacob and Evie Frye investigate London in Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
Set in 1868 during the Industrial Revolution, Syndicate follows the twins Jacob and Evie Frye as they fight Templar influence in London. The siblings establish the Rooks, challenge rival gangs, and work with historical figures including Alexander Graham Bell, Charles Dickens, and Queen Victoria.
London is divided into districts that the Fryes can gradually liberate from enemy control. Jacob generally focuses on gang warfare and direct action, while Evie often undertakes missions involving stealth, investigation, and Isu artifacts. Both characters are playable, making the game unusual within the series.
The setting is sometimes confused with Manchester because industrial northern England is also associated with the period. Syndicate's campaign, however, is specifically built around Victorian London and its neighborhoods, transport, factories, and landmarks.
