In Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which former Assassin becomes the game’s main playable Templar?

The story behind the answer

Shay Cormac is the former Assassin who becomes Assassin’s Creed Rogue’s main playable Templar. The game follows his break with the Colonial Brotherhood and his eventual alliance with the Templar Order.

Shay begins as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the eighteenth century. After a mission connected to an earthquake in Lisbon, he loses faith in the Brotherhood’s methods and leadership. His change of allegiance drives the game’s central conflict and lets players experience the Assassin-Templar struggle from the opposing side.

Rogue’s story connects directly to earlier and later games. Shay encounters Achilles Davenport, the mentor of Connor in Assassin’s Creed III, and his actions help explain the background to Assassin’s Creed Unity. Haytham Kenway and Charles Lee also appear, but neither is the protagonist who changes sides in this game.

Shay commands the Morrigan, a fast ship designed for icy northern waters. Rogue was released in 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, alongside Unity on newer consoles.
