In Assassin's Creed Rogue, which former Assassin becomes the game's central Templar protagonist?

In Assassin's Creed Rogue, Shay Patrick Cormac becomes the game's central Templar protagonist.

Shay begins as an Assassin during the Seven Years' War, but a disastrous mission causes him to reject the Brotherhood's methods. He is then recruited by the Templars and hunts former allies, allowing the game to present the Assassin–Templar conflict from the opposing side.

Shay is not Haytham Kenway, although both characters become Templars and both are connected to the Kenway-era storyline. Rogue was designed as a bridge between Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III, with locations and characters that connect those games. Its naval gameplay also continues the maritime design introduced in Black Flag, while its North Atlantic setting emphasizes colder waters and ice-filled environments.
