In Assassin's Creed Rogue, which former Assassin becomes a Templar after turning against the Brotherhood?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed Rogue, Shay Cormac becomes a Templar after turning against the Brotherhood.

Shay Patrick Cormac begins as an Assassin working with Achilles Davenport's Colonial Brotherhood. After a catastrophic mission involving an Isu site, Shay loses faith in the Brotherhood's methods and abandons it. The Templars rescue him, and he eventually joins their order, hunting his former allies across the North Atlantic and northeastern North America.

This perspective reverses the usual series structure: the player controls a protagonist aligned with the Templars rather than an Assassin. Shay's transformation is the central premise, not a late twist or a temporary disguise. Haytham Kenway is already a Templar and becomes Shay's ally, while Charles Lee is another Templar associated with the period.

Assassin's Creed Rogue was released in 2014. Its story bridges Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III, and its events help explain the destruction of the Colonial Brotherhood before Connor's campaign.
