In Assassin's Creed Rogue, Shay Cormac becomes a Templar after betraying the Assassin Brotherhood.
Shay Patrick Cormac begins the game as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the Seven Years' War. After rejecting the Brotherhood's actions and surviving a catastrophic mission, he turns against his former allies. He is eventually recruited into the Templar Order by Haytham Kenway and helps pursue Assassins across North America.
Shay's change of allegiance is the central premise of Rogue and distinguishes it from most series entries, which normally place the player on the Assassin side. Haytham is a Templar leader, but not the former Assassin who changes sides. Arno Dorian belongs to Assassin's Creed Unity, while Charles Lee is a separate historical Templar character.
