In Assassin's Creed Rogue, Shay Cormac becomes a Templar after a crisis over the Assassin Order's methods.
Shay Patrick Cormac begins the game as an Assassin working in the North Atlantic during the Seven Years' War. After a catastrophic event connected to an Assassin mission, he rejects the Order and is recruited into the Templar Order. The story then presents the conflict from the opposing side, making Shay the series' first main playable Templar protagonist.
Rogue is set between Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III in its historical chronology. Shay is not Arno Dorian, who stars in Unity, and Liam O'Brien is Shay's former Assassin colleague rather than the protagonist.
