Shay Cormac becomes an Assassin-hunting Templar in Assassin’s Creed Rogue.
Shay begins the game as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the eighteenth century. After a disastrous mission connected to an ancient artifact, he becomes disillusioned with the Brotherhood and eventually joins the Templars. The story is told from a perspective that reverses the usual series alignment.
Rogue connects directly to Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It features characters including Achilles Davenport, Adéwalé, and Haytham Kenway, and its events help explain the changing balance of power in the colonial Assassin–Templar conflict.
The game’s major environments include the North Atlantic, the river valley, and New York City. Shay is not the same character as Liam O’Brien, his former Assassin colleague, and Patrick Cormac is not his full name; his canonical name is Shay Patrick Cormac.
