Answer
Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad
In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ezio explores the memories of Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad using the Masyaf Keys.
Revelations was released in 2011 and concludes Ezio Auditore’s main trilogy. Ezio travels to Constantinople while seeking five keys connected to the former Assassin stronghold of Masyaf. Each key contains a memory from Altaïr’s life, allowing Ezio to witness important events after the first Assassin’s Creed.
Altaïr’s memories show the consequences of his leadership, his relationship with Maria Thorpe, and the later years of his life. The device also strengthens the series’ link between its two major historical protagonists, as Ezio learns from Altaïr’s experiences across generations of the Assassin Brotherhood.
The Masyaf Keys are not ordinary physical keys in the simple sense; they are artifacts containing encoded memories. Desmond’s memories are accessed through the Animus and its related systems, but the historical sequences opened by Ezio’s keys specifically concern Altaïr. The game therefore serves as a bridge between both characters’ stories.
