Suleiman is introduced in Constantinople as a young member of the Ottoman dynasty and the grandson of Sultan Bayezid II. Suleiman's intelligence, curiosity, and willingness to question court politics make him an important ally during the story.

The character is based on Suleiman the Magnificent, who later became one of the Ottoman Empire's most powerful sultans. Revelations takes place before his accession, when he was still a prince competing within a dangerous dynastic environment. The game's fictional events place him in contact with Ezio and the Assassin Brotherhood.
