In Assassin's Creed: Revelations, which historic city is the main setting for Ezio's final campaign?

The story behind the answer

Constantinople is the main setting for Ezio's final campaign in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

The game is set primarily in Constantinople during the early sixteenth century. Ezio arrives in the city while searching for keys that open Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's library in Masyaf. Constantinople is divided into districts influenced by Ottoman politics, Byzantine remnants, merchants, and the Templar Order.

The story features Sultan Bayezid II, Prince Suleiman, and several members of the Ottoman Assassin Brotherhood. Ezio also works with Yusuf Tazim, the Brotherhood's local leader, and meets Sofia Sartor, a bookseller whose research helps him locate the library keys. The city's dense streets and rooftops support the series' climbing and stealth mechanics.

Constantinople was the city's historical name during the period depicted. It was renamed Istanbul in official usage by the twentieth century, so modern readers may recognize the setting by that later name. Revelations also alternates between Ezio's story and Altaïr's memories, linking the two protagonists across centuries.
