Ezio Auditore visits Constantinople in Assassin's Creed Revelations while searching for Altaïr's secrets.
The game is set primarily in Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, during the early sixteenth century. Ezio travels there to locate keys connected to Altaïr's former headquarters in Masyaf and becomes involved in conflicts among Assassins, Templars, and Ottoman political factions.
The setting allows the story to connect Ezio's Renaissance-era life with Altaïr's earlier career. The city also features historical figures including Suleiman the Magnificent, who is still a prince during the game's events, and members of the Ottoman royal family.
Constantinople was officially renamed Istanbul in the twentieth century, but Constantinople is the name used for the game's historical setting. Jerusalem belongs mainly to the original game's Levantine locations, while Venice is central to parts of Ezio's earlier story.
