In Assassin's Creed Origins, which Egyptian town gives Bayek his name?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed Origins, Bayek is known as Bayek of Siwa, taking his name from the Egyptian town of Siwa.

Siwa is an oasis in Egypt’s Western Desert, near the border with modern Libya. In the game, Bayek serves as a Medjay, a traditional Egyptian protector and law-enforcement figure. The opening portion of Origins establishes his connection to Siwa before his investigation takes him across Ptolemaic Egypt.

Bayek’s name is sometimes mistaken for a title, but “of Siwa” identifies his place of origin. The setting combines real ancient locations with fictionalized characters and events. Origins is set during the first century BCE, in the reign of Cleopatra VII, and explores the origins of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood.

Bayek’s wife, Aya, is also central to the story. Together, their experiences help shape the group’s early principles and structure.
