Alexandria is one of the game's major Egyptian cities and was a major center of scholarship in the Hellenistic and Roman worlds. The city was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BCE and became the capital of Ptolemaic Egypt. Its famous library is represented in the game as an important landmark.
Origins takes place in the first century BCE, during the final period of Ptolemaic rule and the rise of Roman influence. The protagonist, Bayek of Siwa, travels through Alexandria and other regions while investigating the forces threatening his family and Egypt.
Memphis, Siwa, and Cyrene are also important locations in Origins, but they do not contain Alexandria's Great Library. The game's recreation combines historical places with fictional missions and characters.
