Kassandra is the canonical protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the series’ modern lore.
Odyssey, released in 2018, lets players choose Kassandra or Alexios as the playable character. Both choices follow the same broad historical role and share the title of Eagle Bearer, but later Assassin’s Creed material identifies Kassandra as the canonical character.
The game is set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, beginning in 431 BCE. Kassandra is a descendant of Leonidas I of Sparta and becomes involved with conflicts among the Cult of Kosmos, Athens, Sparta, and other powers.
Alexios remains a valid selectable protagonist in the game itself, which is why questions about the player’s personal playthrough can have two answers. The canonical-lore question has one answer because later stories, including the crossover with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, use Kassandra. She is also distinct from Deimos, a major figure whose identity depends on the chosen protagonist.
