In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which mercenary title is used for the playable protagonist?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the playable protagonist is known by the mercenary title Eagle Bearer.

The title refers to the character’s connection with the eagle Ikaros, who serves as a scouting companion. Players choose either Kassandra or Alexios as the protagonist, but the title Eagle Bearer applies to the selected character within the game’s story.

Odyssey takes place during the Peloponnesian War in the fifth century BCE. It follows the protagonist through ancient Greece, where choices, alliances, and family decisions shape parts of the narrative. The character can also work through a mercenary system that ranks and tracks competing fighters.

The Eagle Bearer is not the same as a formal Assassin Brotherhood rank. Odyssey predates the historical Brotherhood shown in later-set games and focuses on the Isu legacy, the Cult of Kosmos, and the protagonist’s family history.
