In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which female protagonist is considered the canon choice in the game's novelization?

The story behind the answer

Kassandra is the female protagonist considered the canon choice in Assassin's Creed Odyssey's novelization.

Odyssey lets players choose between Kassandra and her younger brother Alexios as the playable misthios. The game presents the choice as a major role-playing option, but the official novelization written by Gordon Doherty follows Kassandra. Ubisoft has therefore generally treated Kassandra as the canonical protagonist for the game's central story, while Alexios remains a valid playable character in the game itself.

The adventure is set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, beginning in 431 BCE. Kassandra can travel through mainland Greece and the Aegean world while becoming involved with Sparta, Athens, the Cult of Kosmos, and her own family history. The character is also connected to the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus in the modern-day framing story.

Kassandra should not be confused with Aya, who appears in Origins, or Eivor, the protagonist of Valhalla. Odyssey was released in 2018.
