Kassandra is the canon protagonist of Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Odyssey lets players choose between Kassandra and Alexios as the playable character. The game's official story canon identifies Kassandra as the central hero, while Alexios appears in the opposing role associated with the family conflict.
Kassandra is a mercenary who becomes involved in the Peloponnesian War and a sprawling family drama. The game is set in Greece in the fifth century BCE, with the narrative beginning around 431 BCE.
Because both characters are selectable, players sometimes assume they are equally canonical protagonists. The choice changes the performed character, but later series material and the official canon position Kassandra as the protagonist.
