The playable sibling in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is born in Sparta.
Odyssey is set during the Peloponnesian War in the fifth century BCE. Players choose Kassandra or Alexios as the playable character, and the chosen sibling is the descendant of King Leonidas I through the game’s family story.
Sparta is central to the opening narrative. The game presents the protagonist’s childhood there before exile and later journeys across the Aegean world. The historical Sparta was a powerful Greek polis known for its militarized social system and rivalry with Athens.
The game’s choice between Kassandra and Alexios can create confusion about the word “protagonist.” Both are selectable in gameplay, while the novelization uses Kassandra as its central character. The birthplace remains Sparta regardless of which sibling the player selects.
