In Assassin's Creed Mirage, which ninth-century city is the main setting for Basim's story?

The story behind the answer

Baghdad is the main setting for Basim's story in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

The game takes place in ninth-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, when the Abbasid capital was a major center of learning, trade, administration, and culture. Basim begins as a street thief and joins the Hidden Ones after leaving the city with Roshan.

Mirage focuses on a more compact urban experience than the large open worlds of several preceding games. Its districts include the Round City, the Abbasiyah scholarly quarter, Harbiyah, and the market district of Karkh.

The historical Baghdad of the game is not the modern city exactly as it exists today. Mirage uses a carefully reconstructed version of the city in 861 CE, combining documented history with the series' fictional Assassin and Isu narratives.
