The protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim Ibn Ishaq.
Mirage, released in 2023, follows Basim before his appearance as an established character in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The story begins with him living as a street thief in 9th-century Anbar before he joins the Hidden Ones and travels to Baghdad.
The game is set mainly in Abbasid-era Baghdad, with Basim’s journey focusing on stealth, investigation, parkour, and the gradual development of his Assassin abilities. His mentor is Roshan, a senior member of the Hidden Ones who recruits and trains him.
Basim is sometimes confused with Altaïr because both are associated with the early Assassin tradition, or with Eivor because Basim is a major character in Valhalla. Mirage is specifically Basim’s origin story and explains the experiences that precede his role in that later game.
