In Assassin's Creed Mirage, the apprentice Assassin from Baghdad is named Basim.
Basim Ibn Ishaq begins the game as a street thief in ninth-century Baghdad. After a dangerous encounter, he leaves the city and seeks training with the Hidden Ones at Alamut. His development from an uncertain apprentice into a capable Assassin forms the core of the narrative.
Mirage is set primarily in Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, with the city divided into historical districts such as Abbasiyah, Harbiyah, Karkh, and Round City. The story connects Basim to characters and events from Assassin's Creed Valhalla, where he also appears, but Mirage takes place earlier in his life. Basim is not the same character as Bayek of Origins, even though both names are short and begin with the letter B. Mirage deliberately returns to stealth-focused gameplay and a more compact city structure after the larger role-playing games in the series.
