In Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim Ibn Ishaq comes from Anbar.
Basim begins Mirage as a young street thief in Anbar before traveling to Baghdad. His early life in the settlement establishes his relationship with Nehal and explains how he becomes entangled with the Hidden Ones, the organization that precedes the later Assassin Brotherhood.
Baghdad is the game’s main city and the setting most players associate with Basim, but it is not his birthplace or childhood home. Mirage’s narrative follows his development after he leaves Anbar and trains under Roshan.
The game is set in ninth-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, with the Abbasid capital presented as a dense urban world divided into districts. Anbar is therefore important as a biographical detail: it identifies where Basim’s story starts, while Baghdad is where his central Hidden Ones mission unfolds.
