In Assassin's Creed Liberation, which Assassin is the game's protagonist?

The story behind the answer

Aveline de Grandpré is the protagonist of Assassin's Creed Liberation.

Aveline is a French-African Assassin operating in and around New Orleans during the eighteenth century. The game follows her efforts against Templar influence while she navigates the social and political tensions of colonial Louisiana. Her heritage and position in New Orleans shape both the story and the disguises available to her.

Liberation was originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012 and later received versions for other platforms. Its gameplay gives Aveline three distinct personas: a Lady, a slave, and an Assassin. Each persona provides different access, equipment, movement options, and social opportunities.

Aveline is sometimes confused with other major women in the series, including Evie Frye from Syndicate and Aya, who appears in Origins. Liberation is historically significant within the franchise because it places a woman of mixed French and African heritage at the center of a full Assassin's Creed adventure.
