In Assassin's Creed III, Connor's heritage is tied to the Mohawk people.
Connor's birth name is Ratonhnhaké:ton, and he is the son of Haytham Kenway and Kaniehtí:io, a Mohawk woman. He grows up in the Mohawk village of Kanien'kehá:ka and later adopts the name Connor while working with the colonial Assassin network.
His story unfolds during the American Revolution. Connor moves between his community, frontier spaces, and major colonial cities while trying to protect his people and oppose Templar plans. The game uses his divided heritage to connect Indigenous history, colonial politics, and the wider Assassin-Templar conflict.
The Mohawk are one of the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois Confederacy, nations. “Iroquois” is therefore related but broader than the specific nation requested. Cherokee and Sioux refer to different peoples, so they are not correct alternatives for Connor's maternal heritage.
