In Assassin's Creed III, which Native American nation is associated with protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton?

The story behind the answer

Ratonhnhaké:ton is associated with the Kanien'kehá:ka, also known as the Mohawk, in Assassin's Creed III.

Ratonhnhaké:ton is the son of Haytham Kenway and a Kanien'kehá:ka woman named Kaniehtí:io. He grows up in the Mohawk village of Kanatahséton and later adopts the name Connor while interacting with English-speaking allies during the American Revolution. His cultural background shapes the game’s story, including the destruction of his village and his decision to oppose Templar plans in the region.

The Kanien'kehá:ka are one of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy’s nations. “Mohawk” is the commonly used English name, while Kanien'kehá:ka is the nation’s own name. The game fictionalizes major events and places its characters within an alternate-history conflict, so it should not be treated as a complete account of Indigenous history. Ratonhnhaké:ton is also frequently called Connor, but that is an adopted name, not his original Kanien'kehá:ka name.
