Haytham Kenway is Connor's father in Assassin's Creed III.
Connor, whose birth name is Ratonhnhaké:ton, is the son of Haytham Kenway and Kaniehtí:io. Haytham is introduced as a playable character in the game's opening chapters, where he appears to be an Assassin before the story reveals his allegiance to the Templar Order. This family connection places Connor at the center of the series' Assassin-Templar conflict.
Haytham is the son of Edward Kenway, the pirate protagonist of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The Kenway family therefore connects two different historical settings: the early eighteenth-century Caribbean and the American Revolution. Connor's mother belongs to the Kanien'kehá:ka community at Kanatahséton.
Players sometimes select Edward because he is Connor's grandfather, not his father. Charles Lee is a Templar opponent, while George Washington is a Revolutionary leader rather than a member of Connor's immediate family.
