In Assassin's Creed III, the playable character known as Connor was born Ratonhnhaké:ton.

Ratonhnhaké:ton is a Kanien'kehá:ka man who becomes involved in the Assassin–Templar conflict during the American Revolution. He adopts the name Connor in part to make it easier for people outside his community to pronounce and remember.

The character’s story connects Indigenous life, colonial politics, and the Revolutionary War. He is raised in the Kanien'kehá:ka village of Kanatahséton and later trains under Achilles Davenport, an experienced Assassin who becomes his mentor.

Haytham Kenway is Connor’s biological father and an important playable character at the beginning of the game, but he is not Connor’s birth name. Aveline is the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, while Achilles is Connor’s mentor rather than his identity.
