Monteriggioni becomes the Auditore family's home and Ezio's base in Assassin's Creed II.
The town contains Villa Auditore, the family estate inherited and developed by Ezio. After leaving Florence, Ezio reaches Monteriggioni with his sister Claudia and mother Maria. His uncle Mario introduces him to the villa's history and helps him begin his training as an Assassin.
Players can renovate Monteriggioni by improving shops, landmarks, and the surrounding settlement. These investments generate income and make the town a functional headquarters between missions. The villa also contains codex pages, equipment, and family-related story material.
The game visits several other Italian locations, including Florence, Venice, Forlì, and San Gimignano. Those places are important settings, but they are not the Auditore family's principal base. Monteriggioni is a real fortified hill town in Tuscany, and the game uses its distinctive medieval setting as a recurring home location.
