Rome is the Italian city controlled by the Borgia family in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
The game continues Ezio Auditore's story after Assassin's Creed II and is set mainly in Rome during the early sixteenth century. Cesare Borgia and his father, Rodrigo Borgia, use political and military power to dominate the city. Ezio works to weaken their influence while rebuilding the Assassin Brotherhood and recruiting allies.
Rome is not merely a backdrop: its districts can be liberated, and restored shops and landmarks help expand Ezio's network. The game also features the Vatican and the Colosseum as prominent historical locations. Florence and Venice are strongly associated with Ezio's earlier adventures, which is why they can be confused with Brotherhood's central city. The title Brotherhood also introduced a larger emphasis on recruiting and directing fellow Assassins.
