In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, which historical organization does Ezio lead in Rome?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio leads the Assassin Brotherhood in Rome.

After arriving in Rome, Ezio finds the city dominated by the Borgia family and their allies. He rebuilds the local Brotherhood by recruiting and training new members, liberating districts, and weakening Borgia control. These recruits can be called into missions, making leadership a central gameplay system rather than a minor story detail.

The Knights Templar are the Brotherhood's long-running rival organization, not the group Ezio leads. The Papal Guard serves the Borgia papacy, while the Medici family is associated more strongly with Ezio's Florence background.

The title Brotherhood reflects both Ezio's expanded responsibilities and the game's emphasis on organization-building. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was released in 2010 and continues directly from the events of Assassin's Creed II, with Rome as its principal setting.
