Rome serves as Ezio Auditore's main operating area in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
The game follows Ezio as he works to weaken the Borgia family's control over the city. Much of the campaign takes place across Rome's districts, monuments, streets, and surrounding countryside, giving the title a more concentrated setting than Assassin's Creed II.
Brotherhood expands the series with the Assassin Recruit system. Ezio can find and train recruits, then call them into missions or send them on assignments around Europe. Restoring shops, landmarks, and district services also gradually changes the city under his influence.
Rome should not be confused with Monteriggioni, which appears as an important early location and headquarters in the story. Monteriggioni is Ezio's Italian base in part of the game, but Rome is the principal city where the Brotherhood's campaign unfolds.
