Rome is the city governed by the Borgia family and targeted by Ezio in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
The game takes place primarily in Rome during the early sixteenth century. Cesare Borgia and his allies use political power and military force to control the city, while Ezio works to weaken their influence and rebuild the Assassin Brotherhood. Many of the game's missions involve liberating districts, recruiting Assassins, and attacking Borgia-controlled infrastructure.
Assassin's Creed II visits several Italian cities, including Florence and Venice, but Brotherhood concentrates on Rome. The historical Borgias were a powerful Renaissance family, although the game's conspiracy narrative and characters are fictionalized. Rome's central role also distinguishes Brotherhood from Revelations, whose principal setting is Constantinople.
