In Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Ezio works to free Rome from Borgia control.
Rome is the principal setting of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, which continues Ezio Auditore’s story after Assassin’s Creed II. Ezio confronts the Borgia family, especially Cesare Borgia, and works to weaken their political and military influence across the city. The campaign includes reclaiming districts, recruiting new Assassins, and restoring Rome’s damaged landmarks and businesses.
The game’s story draws on real Renaissance figures and institutions but combines them with fictional conspiracies and the series’ supernatural technology. Cesare Borgia and Rodrigo Borgia were historical figures, although their roles and relationships are dramatized. Rome should not be confused with Constantinople, the main setting of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, or Florence and Venice, which are prominent in Assassin’s Creed II. Brotherhood also introduced a larger Assassin recruitment system and a multiplayer mode to the franchise.
