In Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Ezio rebuilds the Assassin Brotherhood in Rome.
The game follows Ezio after the events of Assassin's Creed II, when the Borgia family controls much of Rome through political power, military force, and Templar influence. Ezio works to weaken that control while restoring the local Assassin network.
Rome is the game's main setting and includes districts such as the Centro, Campagna, and Antico areas. Ezio recruits new Assassins, liberates districts, destroys Borgia towers, and eventually calls on trained recruits for support during missions.
Florence is central to Ezio's early life, but not Brotherhood's principal rebuilding campaign. Constantinople is the main setting of Revelations, and Paris is the setting of Unity. The title Brotherhood refers both to Ezio's allies and to the organizational system he develops.
