Answer
Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me
In 1991 Elton John and George Michael scored a live-recorded number-one duet with "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me."
The song was originally written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin and released in 1974 on John's album Caribou. George Michael had admired John for years, and the pair first performed the song together at Live Aid in 1985, with Michael singing and John playing piano.
Michael later brought John onstage during his 1991 Cover to Cover tour. They performed the duet at Wembley Arena in London on 23 March and again at Rosemont Horizon near Chicago on 20 October. The Wembley performance became the version released as a single later that year.
The recording topped both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. It spent two weeks at No. 1 in Britain in December 1991 and one week at No. 1 in the United States on the chart dated 1 February 1992. Proceeds were shared among ten charities, including organizations supporting children, AIDS relief and education.
