How old was Albert Einstein when he died?

The story behind the answer

Albert Einstein was 76 years old when he died. He was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, in the Kingdom of Württemberg, and died on April 18, 1955, in Princeton, New Jersey.

Einstein died after internal bleeding caused by the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He had previously undergone surgery to reinforce the weakened section of the artery, but he declined another operation near the end of his life. He continued working on a speech about Israel shortly before entering the hospital.

The age is sometimes misremembered because Einstein died only a little more than a month after his 76th birthday. His death also became part of a strange scientific footnote: pathologist Thomas Stoltz Harvey removed and preserved Einstein's brain during the autopsy, hoping future researchers might study its unusual features. Einstein's remains were cremated, and his ashes were scattered at an undisclosed location.
