Babe Ruth won seven World Series championships as a player. He captured three titles with the Boston Red Sox and four more with the New York Yankees.
Ruth’s Boston championships came in 1915, 1916, and 1918. He was primarily a pitcher for the first two, while his two-way role in 1918 included both pitching and regular hitting. Boston’s 1918 championship was the club’s last title before its long drought, later associated with the so-called Curse of the Bambino.
With the Yankees, Ruth won four World Series: 1923, 1927, 1928, and 1932. His presence helped turn the Yankees into baseball’s dominant franchise, and his home-run hitting made the team a national attraction. A frequent mistake is counting only his four Yankee championships or counting pennants instead of World Series titles. Ruth won seven championships in total, but he appeared in more World Series than that because some of his teams lost.
